MIU Journalism Students Visit BTV
Students of the Department of Journalism and Media Studies at
Manarat International University visited Bangladesh Television (BTV) to gain
practical experience in broadcasting at Rampura in the city recently.
The visit, organised with faculty members, aimed to enhance
students’ hands-on learning in media operations at the country’s largest and
only terrestrial television channel.
Officials of BTV warmly received the students and teachers in
the morning. A documentary highlighting the organisation’s activities from 1964
to the present was screened for the visitors. Following the screening, the
officials interacted with the students and responded to their queries.
Later, the students were divided into two groups and taken on a
comprehensive tour of the station. They visited various sections, including
studios, the newsroom, Programme Control Room (PCR), Master Control Room (MCR),
and audio recording facilities. Senior officials explained the functions and
workflow of each department, providing valuable insights into broadcast
operations. The students also took part in practical sessions to gain firsthand
experience.
The department regularly organises such programmes to strengthen
students’ practical skills and maintain a strong connection with the media
industry. A total of 30 students participated in the visit.
At the end of the programme, the Head of the Department,
Rafiquzzaman Ruman, expressed sincere gratitude to the BTV authorities for
their warm hospitality and cooperation.
